Woman's body found floating off the coast of Gran Canaria

The Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes) 112 of the Canary Islands Government reported that on Monday, a lifeless body was found floating off the Canary Islands coast.

The body was identified as that of an 89-year-old woman, discovered after 8:00 PM on Monday evening, about 30 meters from the shore of El Confital Beach in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

A fire department unit from the capital reached the area and recovered the victim's body, which was brought to the shore where the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) personnel confirmed the death.

The National and Local Police took charge of the corresponding proceedings.
