The search operation for Jay Slater, a 19-year-old British national who went missing last Monday in Tenerife, has been redirected to the initial starting point at Teno Rural Park, specifically to the Masca ravine.

This change in strategy came after a lead that suggested Jay was “probably” seen between Las Américas and Los Cristianos turned out to be false, according to sources from the Guardia Civil reported by EFE.

By mid-morning on Wednesday, the Guardia Civil, which is leading the operation, decided to halt the land and air search efforts in Teno Rural Park and concentrate instead on the southern tourist area of Tenerife. This shift was prompted by the fact that Jay had rented an apartment in that region with his friends.

Jay Dean Slater, a resident of Lancashire, had traveled to Tenerife to attend a music festival and spend a few days vacationing on the island with friends.

His mother, accompanied by Jay's older brother, has traveled to the island to closely monitor the search efforts and assist in any way possible. She shared with the Manchester Evening News that Jay had spoken to a friend before his phone battery died and he went missing. During this conversation, he mentioned that he did not know where he was and that he was very thirsty.

The search for Jay Slater remains a high priority, with local authorities and his family hoping for his safe return.
